March 1st to 6th, 2025.

After feeling isolated while painting for several months, I decided to travel to Indonesia for two months. I planned to start in Jakarta, end in Bali, and visit 4 to 5 cities along the way. I wanted to spend more time in Bali and connect with locals rather than maintain a hectic travel schedule. Unfortunately, due to poor planning, I had to cancel visits to some cities, which ended up costing me a good amount. Now that I've shared that, let's discuss Jakarta.
Jakarta is fairly well-maintained; the capital city appears modern with numerous new buildings, and it's cleaner than India while being less populated than Bangkok or other Southeast Asian tourist destinations. Interestingly, fewer tourists visit this city because there isn't much to do here.
Main attractions are the Monas park, Huge Mosque near the Monas and cathedrel, China town and old Dharma Bakti temple.
Monas Park, this structure is built to honor the independence of Indonesia and freedom fighters of the country. Somehow I didnt like the layout of the park and could have done lot better. In the mornings folks come here to walk or jog around the park.
Istiqual Mosque, since this is the month of Ramdan lot of muslims pray in this mosque. BTW majority of the indonesians are muslims however HIndu and Bhuddhist traditions were followed before Islam.
The church of the lady

Dharma Bhakti Temple
I liked this temple the most, very bright in red color the temple is greatly decorated with lights.
The central city is enjoyable to explore on foot, but there aren't many spots where people gather. I discovered only a couple of such places on my last day.
Food: While food costs appear higher compared to cities like Bangkok, street food is similarly priced to that in Hanoi or Bangkok. However, the street food atmosphere is less appealing than in Thailand or Vietnam, as there is a lack of music, good lighting, and the area isn't very clean. Also lot of street vendors in China town so you can buy lot of fruits and meet for better price.
Women have fair skin, but in terms of beauty standards, they don't seem to match the level of Thai or Vietnamese women. Most of them have round face and when they wear the hijab (head scarf as muslims) they look cute especially little kids.

One last thing before i forget, there are lot of cats in the city and no dogs. Its kind of opposite to that of india.
